Sorry about the site being down ladies and gentlemen! My mistake there as i let an impending server change roll!
Now that you have forgotten all about that! Let's get on with the report/update blog thing!
The Fur was next to finish and i did this with a layer of brown red, followed by brown orange (to an almost orangutan look) then highlighted for depth and variation with both a beige and in some places a white.
Below is a much better picture of the fur, as well as a great angle on the "smashing" monkeys skin. The skin was dark brown drybrush for shadow and ease of navigation, then followed with pale brown and pink red. I finished off with highlights of an elf flesh tone and dotted in the eyes with white and black. i May return the eyes to their previously dark and ominous "brown" glare.
this next picture shows off the awesome detail on these miniatures, i love the grim look he has as he looks towards hi next victim! For some reason as i painted these they became less monkey and more hunter monkey men! Hence the next few pics......
With their teeth painted in and some minor black-lining this unit was done, but not before i went blood crazy!
Why? you ask...simple! i say.
Crazy violent weapon wielding ape-men warrant a blood splatter in my opinion, being that mainly the only time said "simian" people's would have ever wielded a weapon was with the intent of bloodshed or to hunt i felt it apt to "aggro" these guys up a bit with some violent blood splashes!
A decision i do not regret! not only has it given them an exciting and much needed splash of color onto their otherwise brown and dull palette but it has given them a level of characteristic depth, that which only blood can inspire.
Check them out in their finished - pre varnished - state below. An check back tomorrow for a review of the miniatures themselves and updates on my other chimpy commission!
