This bank holiday i have finished the Fireteam Zero commission. i have been playing Metro 2033 on the xbox this week also and combined with this paint job i have totally spurred my interest in the post apocalyptic genre again!
I may try to get a set of these miniatures for myself! either way they where a fantastic adventure and a great level one commission. Even though there was some level twos in there also i think that i am constantly surprised by the level of quality i am able to achieve within the level one boundaries. This commission has been a great example of exactly that.
Today i introduce the EZPainter loyalty card. Why returning customers only you ask? Because as a small business it is the returning customer that fuels our fires.
For every £25 you spend (from you first order onwards) you become eligible to get one stamp. At 8 stamps you can get £25 free credit ON US! So place an order now, and begin saving (on top of the EZPainters incredible prices) straight away!
Without returning customers there would be no EZPainter, no portfolio and no bond between the business and the public. so make your first order today, use the intro deal for money off then grab yourself a loyalty card and start saving :)
Having an absolute ball painting these Frieteam Zero miniatures. i am chuffed to have my first big board game commision on the table and i hope to do amny more in the future, maybe even more fireteam.
check out some of my progress below.
Check out my work on the Heroes below too, at level 2
This last week i received a great package with a good load of beautiful miniatures inside. These guys are for the "Fireteam Zero" board game and i am extremely pleased to be getting an established board game miniatures set on the table.
Due to my clients appropriate curiosity about how i might get certain effects on the "cheaper rate" i decided to start with the flame markers included (of sorts).
Below is a little walk through of my quick method as well as some other pictures of the commission so far.
The mass of minis undercoated. Flames in white (foreground)
Painting Flame Markers
1. White undercoat
2. Pick out bones with bone color.
3. ink bone with brown.
4. Ink white with yellow.
5. Ink yellow with orange.
6. Drybrush orange flame with bone and then white.
7. Drybrush tips with black and dark grey.
This order was a fun challenge for me. My client sent me some pictures with some striking colors but then specified that i avoid them. This unique request led to this bright and beautiful looking finished result. I have used some great turquoise colors and some lovely stark red to bring out the military uniform feel. These are i think some of my favorite ever lv1 jobs.
Put the finishing dry-brush on these lovely Saxon models from my client. They are full of grit. i went with mainly darker tones as they come out really gritty and grubby when washed with the army painter ink.
Great miniatures full of grit and a nice experience. i have also deduced that saxons are very smooth to paint, lots of cloth and lots of skin, i love it.
Soon i intend to introduce a loyalty scheme to EZ but before i get around to that i thought i would sling out another deal to celebrate easter. This deal is on all miniature commission orders EXCEPT for the army deal.
Have a look at the rates and sling us a contact form!
Last night i put the final touches on the first layer of paint on the new Saxon order. They look great and brimming with color and personality, i can't wait to ink them and get on with the touch up!
My second commission also arrived that being the Chinese cavalry so i shall soon post a picture of them too! Below are some pictures of the Saxons in their currently un-inked stage. Some colors may seem more brazen than the final effect will look.
First Stretch Goal for upcoming Kickstarter
The first stretch goal to be announced for GGA is going to be the Armies and states of Greece. This small booklet will cover expanded army lists for many of the Greek states of the ancient world as well as a three part campaign to cover the War of Troy! Check out the "Trojan horse" i built GGA scale.
This week i begin two new commissions, one a mostly peasent based Saxon order and another is a Chinese one with some great Chinese horsemen. I will post photos of the Chinese when they get here but for now here are the assembled Saxons. Lovely miniatures with extreme detail :)
